Review: Warm and Cozy

Warm and cozy? More like burning flames of rage. Okay maybe not that bad, but pretty close. Yes I did. I watched all 16 freaking hours of this craptastic drama. Harsh I know,  but it’s the truth. It pains me, that Yoo Yeon Seok’s first lead role in a drama had to be this garbage. I only stuck with this drama mainly just for Yoo Yeon Seok. It’s so sad Kang Sora and Yoo Yeon Seok’s talent was completely wasted in this drama. This has to be the worst Hong Sisters drama I have ever watched. I’ve always been a huge fan of their work but this was a complete disappointment.

Yoo Yeon Seok and Kang Sora definitely tried their best to act out their roles despite the non existent plot. I really felt the emotions they tried to portray in their characters, it felt genuine.  I’m sure they must have cringed while reading the scripts every week. The drama pretty much was riding on the chemistry between our leads and it was mainly why I stuck with it to the bitter end.

Gun Woo must be one of the worst leading male characters written. However, I believe it was to Yoo Yeon Seok credit that he made Gun Woo likeable. I seriously had some crazy love-hate relationship with Gun Woo every week. One moment I’d be hating his character and then he redeems himself to make me love him again. This cycle just repeated over and over every week. Fustrating to say the least.

I’m worried now Yoo Yeon Seok is scarred from this drama and will not return to the small screen any time soon and will continue to focus on movies for a while. It’s his first drama since Reply 1994 and since then his popularity soared and he’s been doing films non-stop. I just hope it won’t be long before he’ll return to dramaland with a drama that’s worthy of his talents and charisma.

I feel the Hong Sisters completely gave up when they wrote this script. The writing was super lazy and they just threw in all the most clichéd things in it to make the plot move forward. It’s a huge injustice and disservice to Yoo Yeon Seok and Kang Sora’s acting talents. I’d say skip this one at all costs and save yourself from your blood pressure rising. Unless you’re a absolute huge fan of our leads, otherwise please steer clear away. It’s not worth it.
